About Us
Analytical Innovations was formed in 2009 and is comprised of a small, dedicated team of experienced analytical chemists with the remit to deliver high quality analytical services across a variety of industrial sectors. We value building close, trusted working relationships with our customers and offer tailor-made solutions to meet their analytical requirements. In 2020 we became an Agilent Technologies Centre of Excellence, one of 14 based across Europe and the only one currently in the UK. This partnership helps to ensure we stay at the forefront of developments in analytical technology and together we can offer a more comprehensive package to customers by providing method development, validation and training services alongside Instrument sales.
Meet the Team
Analytical Innovations consists of a multi-disciplinary, highly skilled team of chemists who are committed to delivering excellent customer service and have expertise in the following areas:
- Mass Spectrometry (Single Q, QQQ and QTOF)
- Chromatography (GC, HPLC, IC)
- Spectral Analysis (NMR, XRD, UV, FTIR, ICP)
- Process Development + Physical Organic Chemistry
Dr. NICHOLAS POWLES
Dr Nicholas Powles started his career in the area of chemical process development specialising in physical organic chemistry and applied research. However, over the last 15 years Nick’s role has evolved further into analytical chemistry and commercial problem solving with a particular expertise in the analysis of carbohydrates and chemical fingerprinting of complex biological samples.
Dr. MATTHEW STIRLING
Matt began his career as a process development/physical organic chemist with Zeneca, Avecia and NPIL Pharma, however, from 2006 onwards he has worked primarily as an Analytical Chemist gaining a wealth of experience in a variety of analytical techniques, in particular in the areas of HPLC-MS (QQQ and QTOF), GC-MS and ICP-MS. Matt has specific expertise in new method development and current areas of interest involve the development of multi-analyte, trace-level detection of drugs within hair and nail matrices for forensic applications.
Dr.HAIFENG SUN
Haifeng provides in-house instrument and IT support. he is also an Agilent Approved Service Engineer and carries out the installation, repair and qualification of various Agilent instruments.
MEGAN SCOTT
Megan joined the team in 2019 to complete an Industrial PhD focusing on the chemometric differences between two complex datasets, such as a disease state versus a control state. Over the course of her PhD Megan has developed techniques to compare two chemical signatures to highlight chemical differences, including those too minute to be detected through standard inspection of the data. Once particular chemical masses are identified analytical diagnostic methods can then be developed to screen for or quantify these targets.
HELEN WINSOR
Helen Winsor has 36 years’ experience of working in an Analytical Chemist role. 25yrs were spent in an Analytical Development role in industry providing analytical support to Process Development, Manufacturing and Quality Control groups. Helen is educated to degree level through part time study and has a vast range of analytical experience including HPLC/HPLC-MS/Rheology/ICP-MS/NMR/FTIR/Wet Chemistry but specialises in GC/GC-MS.
